Get to Know Barry Mask

Barry Mask has been a man of action, integrity, and leadership. His dedication to community involvement by tackling tough issues and projects has become his currency of trade. Barry has a unique ability to bring people together - often with differing view points - for a common good. In many cases he has (and prefers to) worked quietly behind the scenes to move things forward. And he is not concerned with who gets the credit!

Barry and his wife Jill have lived in the Redland community since 1993. Barry's parents are Brenda ( Butler ) and Bob Forehand, who have lived in the Seman/Weoka community since 1978. His younger brother, Mitch, attended Elmore County High School

Barry earned a B.S. in Public Administration from Auburn University where he was most-noted for being Auburn 's first " Auburn the Tiger" mascot in 1979-80.

Experience = Success?

It depends on the kind of experience you are talking about. From 1985 until 1999, Barry excelled in the governmental affairs arena representing several state associations before the Alabama Legislature. These included the Alabama State Employees Association, Alabama Association of Realtors, Business Council of Alabama (BCA), and the Alabama Industry and Manufacturing Association.

In 1993, Barry was recognized as having the top governmental affairs program in the nation by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) while Director of Governmental Affairs with the Alabama Association of Realtors. In 1996 he was again recognized by the ASAE for having the best program in the nation while at the Business Council of Alabama (BCA).

Because of his experience, Barry knows the process, and he knows where and how to get things done in the Alabama Legislature for Coosa and Elmore Counties . He also knows many current legislators in the House and Senate. It's about relationships to get things done for our district.

Barry will not be a "wide-eyed" freshman legislator. We don't have time to spend three or four years training one because we have so many need in the district that need addressing now.
